Echo Chamber - 146
This week's @EchoChamberFP has a peeping Tom tale on Prime Video, and two Shudder exclusives. A feature debut about house sitting gone wrong, plus a found gem from a directing legend about old age!
Nick Rizzini wrote & directed 'Framed' the new film on Prime Video. Karl (Thomas Law) has left his job and while looking for purpose and messing around with his Dad's photography gear, he spots his neighbour through his window and starts to take photos. She, Cam (Sarah Barlondo), doesn't see him, and when he tells his best friend Virginia (Lottie Amor), or should we say when she finds out, the two different mindsets on privacy come head to head. But like all stories, it doesn't end there, and what started as a sneaky photo session, becomes so much more!
'Caveat' is the feature debut from Damian Mc Carthy who wrote & directed the piece which hits Shudder @shudder today! Sometimes offers are to good to be true, like the one Isaac (Jonathan French) received from an old friend Barrett (Ben Caplan). All he has to do is look after Barrett's niece, Olga (Leila Sykes), as she's having a rough time. What Isaac wasn't told, that he'd have to stay on an island, that he'd have to be locked into a harness. AND, on top of Olga's erratic behavior, there's something sinister happening at the house!!!
In 1973 the Lutheran Society commissioned George A. Romero & Wally Cook to create an educational film about elder abuse and ageism. The end result was 'The Amusement Park'. Not what they were looking for the Lutheran Society shelved the film, until it was discovered in 2018. Now restored, you can watch on 'Shudder' what Romero & Cook envisioned as a harbinger of old age, which still seems very applicable!
