Echo Chamber - 156 - Part Two
In 'Part 2' of this week's @EchoChamberFP we notch up the superhero content, with a Russian cop on Netflix and a former Soviet Spy on Disney+. Along with a story of love, loss & friendship over on Prime Video!
Oleg Trofim's 'Major Grom: Plague Doctor' is based on Artyom Gabrelyanov comic of the same name, from Bubble Comics. It's written by Vladimir Besedin, Evgeny Eronin & Gabrelyanov Police Major Igor Grom (Tikhon Zhiznevsky), an honest and skilled cop with unconventional methods, who, along with blogger Yulia Pchyolkina (Lyubov Aksyonova) and rookie Dmitry (Aleksandr Seteykin) pursues a vigilante murderer in the mask of a plague doctor, as he wrecks havoc throughout Saint Petersburg.
Brad Ingelsby adapts Matthew Teague's Esquire article 'The Friend', for the big screen, and Gabriela Cowperthwaite brings it to life in 'Our Friend'. In 2012 the Teague family are hit with devastating news, Nicole (Dakota Johnson) has cancer, a year later they find out it's terminal. Her husband Matt (Casey Affleck) is struggling to deal with the news and care for their daughters Molly (Isabella Kai) & Evie (Violet McGraw). His best friend Dane (Jason Segel) sees them struggle and moves in to the house to offer his love and support to the people he cares about the most!
'Black Widow' the first film in Phase Four of the MCU, is directed by Cate Shortland and written by Eric Pearson. Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships with her sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) and parents Melina (Rachel Weisz) & Alexei (David Harbour), which were left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
