Echo Chamber - 162
In this episode of @EchoChamberFP we look at kids horror, 'Phase 4' of the MCU, Netflix assassin tale, and a Polish crime thriller!
'Nightbooks' is the new film from David Yarovesky. Written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis who adapted the popular novel (of the same name) from J.A. White. When Alex (Winslow Fegley), a boy obsessed with scary stories, is trapped by an evil witch (Krysten Ritter) in her magical apartment, and must tell a scary story every night to stay alive, he teams up with another prisoner, Yasmin (Lidya Jewett), to find a way to escape.
'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' is the newest entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), directed by Destin Daniel Cretton who co-wrote with Dave Callaham and Andrew Lanham. Shaun (Simu Liu) is leading a carefree life with his best friend Katy (Awkwafina), until he is forced to confront his past as Shang-Chi, the master of unarmed weaponry-based Kung Fu. Which leads to a collision with the Ten Rings organization.
Netflix new feature 'Kate' is directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and written by Umair Aleem. The film follows Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), an assassin, whose mentor and handler (Woody Harrelson) assigns her to kill a high-ranking yakuza boss. During Kate's final mission, she finds out that she has been poisoned and only has 24 hours to live, so she uses her last hours to get revenge, bonding with a victim (Miku Martineau) and finding out who set her up.
Patryk Vega directs and co-writes 'Small World' with Olaf Olszewski. In pursuit of her daughter, she is stopped for speeding by a police officer, Robert Goc (Piotr Adamczyk). His intervention results in the escape of the kidnappers across the Eastern border. Feeling guilt for failing to prevent the abduction, Robert becomes engaged in an international investigation to find the missing girl, Ola (Julia Wieniawa).
