Mark Rosenblatt

Mark is a theatre director with 20 years experience directing across the UK and internationally, who has, more recently, begun to develop work as a screenwriter and film director.

Currently Associate Artist at Leeds Playhouse, one of the UK’s largest producing theatres, where from 2013 to 2016, he was its Associate Director, directing brand new work and classic plays reimagined for a contemporary audience. From 2011 to 2013, he was the Associate at the National Theatre Studio, the National Theatre’s project incubator, renowned for its development of smash-hit shows like War Horse, Curious Incident of the Dog In the Nighttime, and One Man Two Guvnors.

In 2020/21, his Oscar qualified short film Ganef - inspired by stories from his family’s past - played on the international festival circuit winning Best UK Short 2020 at both New Renaissance and Nottingham International Film Festivals, as well as Special Mention for Best Short at BAFTA-qualifying UK Jewish Film Festival. He also co-wrote the feature film Making Noise Quietly (adapted from the acclaimed play by Robert Holman) which was released in the UK by Verve and Open Palm Films in summer 2019. His short film adaptations of Shakespeare’s Henry VIII and Antony & Cleopatra for BFI/Shakespeare’s Globe’s The Complete Walk, an epic celebration of Shakespeare’s 400th Anniversary, were shot on location at Hampton Court and in Giza, Cairo respectively with stellar casts.
