In 'Part One', 'Studio Soho Distribution' bring us a surf documentary, a 'Netflix' romantic comedy, and an indie drama from '1091 Pictures' & 'Signature Entertainment'.
'Girls Can’t Surf' is directed by Christopher Nelius @christophernelius and he co-wrote with Julie-Anne De Ruvo. The untold story of how a band of renegade surfer girls in the 1980s fought to create their own professional sport, changing surf culture forever.
'Wedding Season' is directed by Tom Dey and written by Shiwani Srivastava. Pressured by their immigrant parents to find spouses, Asha (Pallavi Sharda) & Ravi (Suraj Sharma) pretend to date in order to survive a summer of weddings but find themselves falling for each other as they struggle to balance who they are with who their parents want them to be.
'Millie Lies Low' is the directorial feature debut from Michelle Savill who co-wrote with Eli Kent. Architecture graduate Millie (Ana Scotney) is about to fly from Wellington to New York for a prestigious internship but has a panic attack before departure and gets off the plane. Unable to afford another flight, she hides out in her hometown, posting fake Big Apple updates to Instagram while trying to raise the money for a replacement ticket.
