Arthur Ian
Director, Writer, Cinematographer
Arthur Ian was born in the former Soviet Union, in the Republic of Armenia, where he first became interested in theater and film. He has received his Masters and Doctoral Degree in Political Science from Stanford University, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his interest in film and theater. His work has focused on such socially relevant issues as child trafficking, ethnicity and ethnic identity, and theatrical interpretations of classical English and Russian authors.
In 2005, Ian worked with director Eric Tucker, of LA based Bighead Theatricalities, to produce their version of Macbeth. In a tough year, the Shakespeare play landed number six on LA Weekly’s Steven Leigh Morris ‘Best of 2005’ list, also nominating Ian’s Macbeth for Best Overall Production.
Ian went on to direct "Looking For Romeo", a heartbreaking documentary about male prostitution and human trafficking involving both children and teenagers. It aired on “Planete +” television network in France, and later distributed on major television networks in Europe, Australia and Canada, and became an official selection at Newfest, New York Film Festival, the Melbourne Film Festival, Santa Fe Film Festival, and several others.
