We have three films for you, on this week's EchoChamberFP

Things get wound back to the end of last year for our first couple of flicks. Both from 20th Century Studios, but vastly different, ones a period piece capper, the other a fresh new horror, mystery. Then we close the show with a charming joint from Duplass Brothers Productions & Shout! Studios!

'Amsterdam' is written & directed David O. Russell The story is based on the Business Plot, a 1933 political conspiracy in the US, and follows three friends—a doctor, a nurse, and a lawyer—who reunite and seek to uncover the act following the mysterious murder of a retired US general.

'Barbarian' is the directorial debut from Zach Cregger, which he also wrote. A young woman (Georgina Campbell) traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

'Language Lessons' is directed by Natalie Morales, who co-wrote with Mark Duplass. For his 45th birthday, wealthy Californian Adam (Mark Duplass) receives a surprise gift from his choreographer partner: 100 weekly Spanish lessons with Cariño (Natalie Morales), a vivacious expat who teaches virtually from her home in Costa Rica. Adam's unconvinced at first; a self-described “creature-of-habit”, he’s unsure about where or how this new element will fit into his carefully-structured routine. But after unexpected events turn his life upside down, Cariño becomes a lifeline he didn’t know he needed, and a complicated emotional bond develops...

In 'Part One' we have:

The Final Girls Berlin Film Festival - 2023

8th Edition

1st - 5th February 2023

City Kino Wedding - Berlin

'Final Girls Berlin Film Festival' showcases horror cinema that’s directed, written, or produced by women and non-binary filmmakers. We are committed to creating space for female voices and visions, whether monstrous, heroic or some messy combination of the two, in the horror genre. We've seen more than enough representations of women as beautified victims and constructions of male fantasies or anxieties, and are working towards the primacy of women as subjects and storytellers in horror.
