Echo Chamber - 244
You know the drill people, it's EchoChamberFP time again!!!
We take a slight step back to the end of 2022 for our first two films. Sony Pictures starts things off with assassins on a train, then RLJE Films & Shudder bring us alien invasion meets teenage girls horror. And we end things with Netflix film continuation of a beloved BBC maverick detective yarn!
'Bullet Train' is directed by David Leitch and written by Zak Olkewicz, and is an adaptation of 'Maria Beetle' by Kōtarō Isaka. Ladybug is an unlucky assassin who's determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs has gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans as his latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe -- all with connected yet conflicting objectives -- on the world's fastest train.
'Slash/Back' is the feature directorial debut from Nyla Innuksuk which she co-wrote with Ryan Cavan. The sleepy village of Pangnirtung wakes up to a typical summer day. No School, no cool boys (well... except one), and 24-hour sunlight. But for Maika (Tasiana Shirley) and her ragtag friends (Chelsea Prusky, Iris Sowdluapik, Alexis Wolfe, Frankie Vincent-Wolfe, Nalajoss Ellsworth), the usual summer is suddenly not in the cards when they discover an alien invasion threatening their hometown. These teenagers have been underestimated their whole lives but, using makeshift weapons and their horror movie knowledge, they show the aliens you don't f*** with the girls from Pang.
'Luther: The Fallen Sun' is directed by Jamie Payne, and written by series creator, Neil Cross. Brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther breaks out of prison to hunt down a sadistic serial killer who is terrorising London.
