This one's thanks to Kelli McNeil-Yellen, who in the midst of our festival coverage, threw out this zinger! We have an indie drama that deals with realigning your thinking, perseverance, self belief, and overcoming illness....THEN, we sit down with the man that bore his soul to make his vision. The wi-fi gods were battling us, BUT, if you stick with it, there's a lot of take aways here. As it's a really honest, and heartfelt chat about what drives us, and holds us back!!!
'60 Miles North' is the feature directorial debut from Edward Crawford & Jack Mulcahy, Crawford also wrote the film. After losing the role of a lifetime, an aspiring actor (Edward Crawford) retreats to his hometown. Faced with either continuing to pursue stardom or accepting a job in his family's (Jack Mulcahy, Jane Dashow, Lauren McCann) trade, he embarks on a soul-searching journey. When he encounters a woman (Audrey Kovár) battling Lyme disease, who happens to be renting his childhood bedroom, an unexpected friendship develops, forcing them both to make life-altering decisions.

As you know, the summer months are when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urges people to be the most vigilant about ticks and Lyme disease (important info here!?): the release of this film was timed to coincide with this heightened effort to shed light on a disease that impacts half-a-million Americans annually.

Edward Crawford is a New York City based filmmaker, writer, actor, comedian, and host. While he’s a New Yorker through and through, what he’s most proud of is being a survivor of neurological Lyme Disease. Edward was the original host of the iconic gameshow CASH CAB, but after finding an undisclosed DUI on his driving record from a drunken night when he was 19, the show fired him and subsequently hired comedian Ben Bailey. Shortly after, Edward was diagnosed with Lyme disease. 60 MILES NORTH is a film woven from the fabric of his own life and is a farewell letter to both incidents which have shaped him in immeasurable ways.
