'Midnight Taxi' is the feature directorial debut from Bertie Speirs & Samantha Speirs, which they also wrote. Waking to find himself alone with a murdered woman (Scarlett Mellish Wilson), Eddie Carter (Ladi Emeruwa) - a night shift cab driver with a worrying history of sleepwalking - sets out to discover the killer, desperately hoping it isn't him. His investigation takes him deep into London's seedy night-time underworld.

Bertie discovered filmmaking when studying abroad at Penn State University. He topped the class with his documentary on cheerleaders, and extended his student visa to intern for an Emmy Award winning documentarian Stephen Stept on ‘THE GEOSPATIAL REVOLUTION’. Upon returning to the UK, he won Leeds University filmmaking society short film of the year, and after graduating landed a job as production manager at VCL Video, a production company with clients such as Mini Cooper, Lacoste, Accor Hotels and Zurich Investments. Bertie helped to found creative collective ‘Good Shout’ and directed their first short film ‘Lonely Heart’, which went on to be awarded at the London Screenwriters Festival, and became part of the first crowd sourced feature film ’50 KISSES’.
He then moved to Los Angeles, and worked on a variety of projects. Amongst several highlights, he became camera assistant to Emmy award winning Director of Photography Ian McGlocklin. He made over 50 videos for YouTube channel ‘Ground Leaf’ and was hired as Post Production Coordinator on the Tim Allen Fox/ABC sitcom ‘LAST MAN STANDING'.
Upon returning to the UK, Bertie tested himself in a technically challenging one man crew short film based on the Splinter Cell video game franchise. He then found work as Script Coordinator for Chloe Zhao and Marvel Studios on the superhero epic ‘ETERNALS’

Samantha Speirs

Director, Writer, Production Assistant
After graduating university with a degree in finance from Penn State, Samantha moved to Los Angeles to pursue a passion for film. She spent several years working as a production assistant on a range of projects (such as Russell Brand’s FX television show ‘BRAND X’, and cult hit ‘SHARKNADO’). Soon, she was hired as a PA on the Tim Allen Fox/ABC sitcom ‘LAST MAN STANDING’ where she was promoted several times until she was the producer’s assistant. In between seasons, Samantha produced ‘AFTER THE END', a low-budget independent feature. Samantha was then accepted into the training program at United Talent Agency (UTA) where she worked for talent agent Mike Rubi and UTA partner Pete Franciosa.
Samantha worked at UTA until she and Bertie relocated to London where she quickly found work as director Jon Watts’ assistant on ‘SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME’. After an incredible experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samantha was hired by Tom Hooper to assist him on ‘CATS'.
Recently, Samantha has produced the comedy theatre show ‘PETER SERAFINOWICZ PRESENTS THE ELVIS 2023 COMEBACK SPECIAL’ at Soho Theatre.
