Alina Bichieva

Writer, Director, Producer, Editor

Alina Bichieva grew up in Nalchik - a small town in the heart of Caucasus, a patriarchal and conservative region of Russia. Caucasus is inhabited by ethnic minorities, and one of them is balkars, to which Alina belongs.

The people, culture and mentality surrounding Alina always put pressure on her, since she never fit into the standards. Alina had to defend her individuality and independence whilst pursing the dream of becoming a filmmaker. That’s how she decided to move to London and go to Met Film school, to be able to follow her passion of writing and directing.

Alina believes in the power of stories based on personal experience. The sci-fi drama "Memoria", Alina's graduation short film, was also inspired by her personal experiences and reflections.

Alina's main goal as a director is to create films that excite people on a deeply emotional level, encourage them to rethink their lives and bring them to reflection and introspection.
