Echo Chamber - Sci-Fi London 2024 - Vol 5 (I Made War of the Worlds)
This is most definitely not a hoax, @EchoChamberFP is back for our fifth rotation around the 2024 Sci-Fi London (14th - 22nd September 2024) Film Festival.
Today's short is a love letter to a piece of classic literature. THEN we get to have a really fun chat with the director / co-writer of the joint. And we really get into all things sci-fi!!!
'I Made War of the Worlds' is directed by Luke Walters, who co-wrote with Jaime Carroll. After a down-and-out podcaster (Jonathon Carley) is fired due to a rapid decline in ratings, he turns his attention to the mass hysteria myth of the 1938 radio drama "The War of the Worlds" to get his career back on track. With the help of his more successful yet reluctant friend (James Dorman), and a naive waitress/wannabe actress (Elizabeth Coverdale) with dreams of grandeur, the trio set out to recreate a hoax alien invasion to cause chaos, go viral, and bring them the fame and fortune they desire.
