Before the film streams on Netflix (20th December 2023), the BFI IMAX is pleased to announce a limited run of ‘Maestro’ (Bradley Cooper, 2023) from 1 December, with the Waterloo venue the only IMAX screen to play the film on IMAX with Laser outside of the USA.
The first screening of ‘Maestro’ at BFI IMAX is Friday, 1st December at 18:00, and will include a special, extended introduction from director and actor Bradley Cooper and actor Carey Mulligan in person, before the film plays a limited run on 2, 3 and 6 December.
One of the towering figures of 20th-century American arts and culture, the film celebrates composer Leonard Bernstein’s artistic gifts as well as his complexity as an individual. The man behind WEST SIDE STORY, winner of countless accolades and the first American conductor to receive international acclaim, Bernstein was a titan of the classical world. Bradley Cooper's film encompasses his life through the prism of his 30-year marriage to actor Felicia Montealegre. Spanning the decades following the end of the Second World War, the film skilfully weaves the couple's story into the fabric of American cultural and political life. Cooper takes the lead role, capturing the intensity and charisma of his subject, while Carey Mulligan brings strength and grace to her role as Montealegre. Made with the cooperation of the couple's three children, MAESTRO is a glorious symphony of life and art.
Originally receiving its UK premiere as a Headline Gala at the 67th BFI London Film Festival, BFI IMAX will present the film with 12 channel sound and is the best place to experience the full orchestra of Bradley Cooper’s love letter to music – on the UK’s largest screen.
