Echo Chamber - 141 - Part 2
In 'Part 2' of this week's @EchoChamberFP we look at the crazy, experimental feature directorial debut which is hitting ‘Shudder’ 'Fried Barry' and speak to its director Ryan Kruger.
Ryan Kruger directed (his first film) and wrote (with help from James C. Williamson) 'Fried Barry'. In this festival hit, we follow a drug-addled degenerate named Barry (Gary Green @actionman.green) who, after yet another fight with his loving with Suz (Chanelle de Jager @chanelle.jager) and bender, gets abducted by aliens. Barry takes a backseat as his alien visitor assumes control of his body and takes it for a joyride through Cape Town. What follows is an onslaught of drugs, sex, and violence as Barry’s alien tourist enters the weird and wonderful world of humankind.

Ryan moved to South Africa to further his prospects (and enjoy the better weather) and has become one of their best known music video directors. Producing over 70 music videos for SA’s most prolific artists and groups, such as Prime Circle. And being nominated and winning awards from the likes of MTV and SAMA'S (South African Music Award).
'Fried Barry' is his feature film debut, and it spins out of a 3min experimental short of the same name, which he created in 2017.
