Echo Chamber - 179
On our last @EchoChamberFP of 2021, we have assassins on Prime Video, plus jousts, & magical singalongs on Disney+.
The Protégé is directed by Martin Campbell and written by Richard Wenk. Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge. As she becomes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves even tighter.
'The Last Duel' is directed by Ridley Scott and written by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck & Matt Damon. It's an adaptation of Eric Jager's 2004 book, 'The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France'. Based on the true story of France's last trial by combat in the Middle Ages. Knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) challenges his former friend Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) to a duel after Jean's wife Marguerite (Jodie Comer) accuses Le Gris of rape.
'Encanto' is written & directed by Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Charise Castro Smith and is the 60th film from the Disney Animation! It tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family's last hope.
