Echo Chamber - 211 - Part One
You can hear ‘Part Two’ HERE of this week’s episode!!!
We continue to catch-up with big films on this week's EchoChamberFP AND, it's also a 'TWO Parter'!!!
For 'Part One', along with two monster flicks from last year, we have a new documentary looking at the oldest UK drag act. Then there's a n indie witch comedy, and we bring it home with a new film that has rejuvenated, and brought the great back to a film franchise.
‘Monster Hunter’ is written & directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and an adaption of the popular video game series. When an unexpected sandstorm transports soldiers to a new world, they discover an unknown habitat with monsters immune to their firepower.
‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ is directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson & Max Borenstein. Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
‘Maisie’ is the directorial debut from Lee Cooper, who also wrote the piece. An intimate portrait of ageing and friendship as Maisie Trollette, Britain’s oldest drag act, prepares for his 85th birthday and meets 87 year old Darcelle XV, Guinness World Record Holder from the USA for the very first time.
‘King Knight’ is directed by Richard Bates Jr. Thorn (Matthew Gray Gubler) is the leader of a coven of new-age witches. Life is good. But when a secret from his past comes to light, it forces him to take a trippy, journey of self-discovery.
‘Prey’ is not an origin story, but it is a ‘Predator’ story set in the past. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison, it’s the first film to utilise a Comanche dialogue track. Naru (Amber Midthunder), a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. When danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
