Echo Chamber - 227
It's another four film EchoChamberFP this week!!!
Apple TV+ & A24 bring us a film about the trauma of war, Signature Films has a relationship break-up joint, set at Christmas. While Disney+ revisit fairytale fifteen years later, and Netflix take us into the world of dreams!
'Causeway' is directed by Lila Neugebauer and written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel, and Elizabeth Sanders, Lynsey (Jennifer Lawrence), a U.S. soldier, experiences a traumatic brain injury during her tour in Afghanistan which forces her to return home. She struggles to return to her daily life with her mother as she waits for her eventual redeployment.
'Bar Fight' is the feature directorial debut Jim Mahoney, which he also wrote. There’s only one way to settle the score after a break-up and for Nina (Melissa Fumero) and Allen (Luka Jones) it’s a turf war for their favorite local bar. Lines have been drawn and with the help of Nina’s best friend Chelsea (Rachel Bloom) it’s going to be a winner takes all affair. The drinks are free flowing, the competition is fierce, and games are out-of-this-world crazy. With the bar on the line, this BAR FIGHT! is going to become a battle for the ages.
'Disenchanted' is directed by Adam Shankman and written by Brigitte Hales. It has been 15 years since Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) wed, but Giselle has grown disillusioned with life in the city, so they take their daughter Morgan (Gabriella Baldacchino) to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a more fairy tale life. Unfortunately, it isn’t the quick fix she had hoped for, as Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), queen bee of the town, makes Giselle feel more out of place than ever. Her rash actions place the town and her family’s future happiness in jeopardy!
'Slumberland' is directed Francis Lawrence and written by David Guion & Michael Handelman, and is based on Winsor McCay's 'Little Nemo' comics. After her father Peter (Kyle Chandler) is unexpectedly lost at sea, young Nemo's (Marlow Barkley) life is upended, and she moves to the city with her well-meaning uncle Phillip (Chris O'Dowd). A secret map to the fantastical world of Slumberland connects Nemo to Flip (Jason Momoa), a rough-around-the-edges but lovable outlaw. They soon find themselves on an incredible journey traversing dreams and fleeing nightmares, where Nemo begins to hope that she will be reunited with her father once again.
