On our penultimate day of @EchoChamberFP coverage ('Day 11') of 2022's 'BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival' we have three full lengths. Two documentaries, (one sport and one music), and a feature debut!

'I Am the Tigress' is written & directed by due Philipp Fussenegger & Dino Osmanović. Tischa Thomas cuts a beguiling figure in a tight dress, with strawberry blonde wig and enormous biceps. She is about to leave the US to compete in a bodybuilding competition in Romania, accompanied by her jaded but loyal coach. Her extraordinary transformation from overweight mother-of-three to disciplined athlete and dominatrix speaks volumes about the relationship between gender and race, not least because Tischa is neither trans nor queer. Yet everything about her experience is a pointed commentary on how transphobia, racism and gendered violence are intimately linked.

'Dawn, Her Dad & the Tractor' is the feature directorial debut from Shelley Thompson who also wrote the screenplay. Dawn MacGinnis (Maya V. Henry), a young transgender woman from Nova Scotia who returns home for her mother's funeral, and tries to rebuild her relationship with her estranged father John Andrew (Robb Wells) through working together to restore John Andrew's old broken-down tractor.

'TRAMPS!' is written & directed by Kevin Hegge. Rising from the nihilistic ashes of the punk movement in the late 1970s, a fresh crowd of flamboyant fashionistas, who would later be christened the New Romantics, began to materialize on the streets of East London, England.
