As the 36th 'BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival' draws to a close, on 'Day 12' we stack our @EchoChamberFP coverage!
We have one more feature debut and seven fantastic short films!
'The Novice' is the feature debut from Lauren Hadaway, who also wrote the script. An obsessive college freshman, Alex Dall (Isabelle Fuhrman), joins her university's rowing team and undertakes an extreme physical and psychological journey to make it to the top varsity boat, no matter the cost.
'Pink & Blue' is directed by Carmen LoBue, with Kaydx writing the screenplay. After a surprise first-time pregnancy, a Trans couple of color wrestles with how the new baby will affect their relationship and how to raise their child in a binary world.
'Queer Parivaar' is directed by Shiva Raichandani, who co-wrote with Amani Saeed. A mysterious woman arrives on the eve of Madhav & Sufi’s wedding, revealing a secret family history.
‘The Meaning of Daisey’ is directed by Max’ed Deeq and written by Aimée Robinson. It follows Daisey (Funso Foluso-Henry) and Matty (Amelia Parillon) who work in a florist, Daisey’s regular day at work takes an unexpected turn when she is swept off her feet by Owens (Yinka Olorunnife). It’s a tentative dance between two people that with a little help from a friend finally act on their obvious attraction.
'Noor & Layla' is written & directed by Fawzia Mirza. Five prayers coincide with five stages of a Muslim couple's relationship, Noor (Nicole Nwokolo) and Layla (Sahar B. Agustin-Maleki) are breaking up. Is it the end of the road for these two Muslim women… or is it just the beginning?
'Minutes' is directed by Alix Eve & Olivia Dowd who wrote with the help of the two leads Ella Dacres & Ell Potter. From nervous first dates to late night arguments, a relationship in microcosm and a chance for something new?
'The Syed Family Xmas Eve Game Night' is directed by Fawzia Mirza and written by Kausar Mohammed. All cards are on the table when Noor (Kausar Mohammed) brings her girlfriend Luz (Vico Ortiz) to her family’s annual game night.
'The Beginning & The Middle' is written & directed by Alexis G. Zall. Two childhood best friends, Olive (Lukita Maxwell) & Grace (Genneya Walton), are reunited at a house party and debate the pros and cons of finally hooking up.
