Echo Chamber - BFI Flare 22 - Day 5
On 'Day 5' of the 36th 'BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival' we took a trip to the BFI to watch the 'Now and Forever' Shorts program, for today's @EchoChamberFP coverage!!!
'His Eyes' is directed by Alexander Weber. Cleo’s (Miriam Fussenegger) quest for perfection threatens to derail plans to start a family with girlfriend Anna (Isabella Jeschke).
'Meet Me There' is written & directed by Rachael James. It’s that feeling you get when you have waited too long to tell your friend how you feel about them.
'Do This For Me' is directed by Marnie Baxter and written by April Kelley. Masks that are worn and secrets that are hidden all come tumbling out during one emotional evening amongst friends.
'And Then' is directed by Ravenna Tran who co-wrote with Patrick Laffoon. Mana (Erika Ishii), a Japanese-American woman who arrives in Tokyo seeking to find a break from her life as an artist, meets Haru (Rina Hoshino), a Japanese woman from the countryside who dreams of becoming an artist herself one day.
'Make Me A King' is directed by Sofia Olins and written by Natalie Arle-Toyne. Ari (Libby Mai) performs as a Jewish Drag King, much to the confusion of their family. Idolising real-life hero, Pepi Littman, who carved out a space for Drag Kings over 100 years ago, they use this history to open up a space for acceptance in the present.
'Snuff' is written & directed by Louise Nesbitt. Returning home for a clandestine tryst, Noelle discovers her wife had similar ideas but is way ahead of her.
