The 27th Fantasia International Film Festival (20th July - 9th August 2023) is well underway, and today marks the start of our @EchoChamberFP coverage!

We take a look at two horrors, both physiological, but in vastly different ways!!!

'Emptiness' is written & directed by Onur Karaman. Suzanne’s (Stephanie Breton) husband (Alexandre Dubois) has disappeared and she has no idea where he is. She’s stuck in her old house with Linda (Julie Trépanier) and Nicole (Anana Rydvald) who just won’t leave her alone. Linda is caring and wants to help Suzanne whereas Nicole is mounting suspicions on her. While looking for hints about her husband’s disappearance, a presence seems to prevent her from doing so. Is the house haunted or is Nicole playing a trick on her?

'Lovely Dark and Deep' is written & directed by Teresa Sutherland in her feature directorial debut!!! The enigmatic Lennon (Georgina Campbell) is granted a long-awaited position as a park ranger in an isolated outpost. Immediately, the woods tower ominous and great, and are strangely shrouded in mystery and conspiracy theories pertaining to bizarre disappearances. Once Lennon settles into this minimalist life, visions quickly start to manifest, blending the past, present, and perhaps something even more sinister lurking in the serene, writhing landscape. Steadily, Lennon descends further and further into the horror that lays dormant at the roots of this landscape. As these mysteries arise and blossom, the lines between reality and dream quickly begin to blur twisting and turning like vines.
