Today's episode of our @EchoChamberFP coverage of the 27th Fantasia International Film Festival @fantasiafestival (20th July - 9th August 2023) was mos definitely a straight treat!
The incredible Adams Family is BACK to talk about their new film!!! We spoke with Toby, John, Zelda & Lulu in February 2022 about 'Hellbender' on 'Episode 188 - Part Two' So it's a joy to see them continue to shine!
'Where the Devil Roams' is written & directed by Zelda Adams, John Adams, and Toby Poser. In the dregs of Depression Era America, a family of performers travels a cold, dying carnival circuit. Seven (John Adams) likes books; Maggie’s (Toby Poser) fond of hammers; daughter Eve’s (Zelda Adams) obsessed with scissors. On a ratty stage, quiet Eve sings for their supper, but off-stage their bloody side act is booming. When the family’s bond is severed by a violent comeuppance, Eve is there to pick up the pieces. After stealing magic from a sinister Devil-dealing carny (Sam Rodd), the family’s gruesome act begins to shine. But Eve must continue to cut and sew, as the Devil guides them from below.

Zelda Adams was born in New York City and moved to Topanga Canyon, CA when she was 5. While Z has won acting awards on the indie film festival circuit, she has also been operating the camera since she was 9 and is now writing, directing, shooting, and editing her own short films and music videos. Her first short, NOBLE, premiered at the Walla Walla Movie Crush and played at NY Young Film Makers. Zelda plays soccer and travels year-round with Nirvana360 FC. She also plays drums and sings with bands Kid Kalifornia and Hellbender.

Lulu Adams
Lulu Adams
Actress, Director, Teacher
Lulu was born in New York City and moved to Topanga Canyon, CA when she was 10. As a kid she occasionally appeared in TV commercials and ad campaigns like GapKids. After winning acting awards for her performance in Rumblestrips, Lulu began working behind the camera at age 13. After spending a year abroad to travel and study in France, Lulu will finish her senior year at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR in 2020, where she majors in French and Psychology, and plays soccer and Ultimate Frisbee.

John Adams
John Adams

When not making films, John Adams is an accomplished artist (see getdownmakeart.com) and musician. Aside from composing music for film, John is also known for writing and performing with bands Banana Fish Zero, Statues of Liberty, and Kid Kalifornia.
Hailing from New York state, John enjoyed an illustrious modeling career in the '90s, representing the likes of Armani and Calvin Klein and traveling all over the globe. In 2008 the Fuse Channel cast John as Rock and Roll Acid Test's stuntman/maniac-with-a-hammer. He's also a house and barn builder and a soccer and track coach.

After graduating from Tulane University with a BFA in Acting, Toby Poser moved to New York and began acting in stage productions Off-Broadway (like Mike Leigh's ECSTASY with the New Group) and regionally. For three years she filled the role of GUIDING LIGHT's wicked "Malibu Madam" Amanda Spaulding, all the while acting in other TV classics like all of the various LAW & ORDERs and in independent films like Sundance darlings THE INCREDIBLY TRUE ADVENTURE OF 2 GIRLS IN LOVE and STEAL ME. As a voice over artist, she’s been heard on numerous national campaigns, including the Progressive Auto Insurance commercials with Flo.

John Adams, Toby Poser, and their daughters, Lulu and Zelda, are a filmmaking family under the creative marquee of Wonder Wheel Productions. They have 5 previous fea-tures: The Deeper You Dig (2020), which premiered at Fantasia Film Festival and is distributed by Dark Sky Films and Arrow Video; Halfway to Zen (2016); The Shoot (2014); Knuckle Jack (2013); Rumblestrips (2012) — all earning a hearty reception on the festival circuit, including Best in Show and Audience awards. For each they’ve employed the same DIY ethic: as a collective team they write, direct, pro-duce; they shoot, edit, act, and compose. (Post-college grad Lu rejoins them as an actor this time.)The family lives in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
