Echo Chamber - 159 - Part Two
Now it's time to get into 'Part Two' of this week's (catch-up) @EchoChamberFP We have a couple of action thrillers. Then we hit you with a couple of horror thrillers. But believe, same genres, completely different films!
'Sweet Girl' is Brian Andrew Mendoza directorial debut, and written by Philip Eisner and Gregg Hurwitz. We follow a devastated husband (Jason Momoa) who vows to bring justice to the pharmaceutical company, he feels is responsible for his wife’s (Adria Arjona) death. While protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Isabela Merced), but is that possible whilst on his mission for vengeance.
'Mosquito State' is directed by Filip Jan Rymsza, who co-wrote it with Mario Zermeno. In August 2007, isolated in his austere penthouse overlooking Central Park, obsessive Wall Street data analyst Richard Boca (Beau Knapp) sees ominous patterns: His computer models are behaving erratically, as are the swarms of mosquitos breeding in his apartment, an infestation that attends his psychological meltdown.
Written and directed by Brandon Christensen 'Superhost' follows Teddy (Osric Chau) and Claire (Sara Canning). They're travel vloggers who run a channel called “SUPERHOST” where they travel and share their experiences in and around vacation homes, and until recently, had become successful doing it. With a dwindling subscriber count, they find the perfect opportunity to create content that people want to see when they meet Rebecca (Gracie Gilliam), the host of their most recent trip. Slowly they start to realize that something isn’t right with Rebecca, and as they investigate it further, they unlock a horrifying truth. She doesn’t just want a great review; she wants something far worse.
Peccadillo Pictures brings us 'Boy Meets Boy' the new film from Daniel Sánchez López who co-wrote it with Hannah Renton. On the streets of Berlin when handsome young Harry (Matthew James Morrison), exhausted from partying for 48 hours straight at a sweaty nightclub, crosses paths with cute dancer Johannes (Alexandros Koutsoulis). With 15 hours to kill before his flight home, Harry takes up Johannes' offer to take a wander through this thrumming city. Before long, a simple meet-cute evolves into something much more, where each of these men must confront their own truths - and face their futures.
