In 'Part Two' of this bumper, first of 2022, edition of @EchoChamberFP we take a look at 'Delicate State'. A film that started as pregnancy project, but evolved to be a crystal ball into what could be a future, if a middle ground and conversation isn't had!
'Delicate State' is the directorial debut for Actor/Producer/Writer Paula Rhodes. It poses the question: What if a Civil War broke out NOW? Shot over the course of her actual pregnancy with she and her husband as leads, doubling as a two-person crew, Paula (Paula Rhodes) and Charlie (Charlie Bodin) document their impending parenthood during a time of extreme political division. Their heads remain in the sand about the greater world around them until it upends their privileged life. Now they must navigate the loss of a loved one, the destruction of their home, and the ruins of the health care system at their, and their nation's most vulnerable moment. Shot mostly in 2015 when such events seemed like pure fiction, Delicate State extended filming to document the ensuing nationwide protests, political conventions, uprisings and lockdowns as their original outline continued to spiral into reality.

Paula Rhodes
Paula followed her burning desire to join the ranks of storytellers on a path out of the Midwest via the pageant circuit and parlayed the crown she won into multiple internships. She spent stints in London and NYC before settling in LA, where she began crackling along as a working actor and falling in love with the additional glow work behind the camera grants one.
A born multitasker who has always scoffed at the "pick a lane" mentality," she quickly started hyphenating her credits to span AD on a BBC pilot, co-director of a short that saw the first premiere at the SAG-AFTRA building garnering her team the rights to a comic book she loved as a child, casting commercials, hosting the Hollyweb Fest Awards and IAWTV red carpets, producing and starring in the 3 season run of the laureled The New Adventures of Peter & Wendy, racking up 85+ other credits, and blushing at numerous nominations and awards won along the way.
Beyond these realms, she is also the creator of two tiny humans, owner of one dusty Journalism degree, and founding member of the 5'2" & Under Club. This is her feature directorial debut and the first time she's worn quite so MANY hats simultaneously.
