Echo Chamber - 181
Another week, another @EchoChamberFP And we hit all the streamers this episode. There's a coming of age drama on Prime Video, new MCU action on Disney+, and a future sci-fi thriller on Netflix.
George Clooney & William Monahan adapt 'The Tender Bar' from J. R. Moehringer book, by the same name. It's the story of J.R. (Daniel Ranieri & Tye Sheridan), a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie (Ben Affleck), acts as a surrogate father figure. His determined mother Dorothy (Lily Rabe) struggles to provide him with the opportunities denied to her and leave the dilapidated home of her father (Christopher Lloyd). J.R. begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic & professional dreams, with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar.
'Eternals' is directed by Chloé Zhao, who co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo. And is the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
'Mother/Android' is the feature directorial debut from Mattson Tomlin who also wrote the film. Which is an adaptation of 'R.U.R.' from Karel Capek. A young woman, Georgia (Chloë Grace Moretz), and her boyfriend, Sam (Algee Smith), go on a treacherous journey of escape as their country is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, they must cross a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.
