Echo Chamber - 182
This week @EchoChamberFP has a couple of new Shudder originals, a book adaptation on Netflix, and a new indie film dropping soon from Lightbulb Film Distribution.
Monika Mitchell, David Golden, Suzette Couture, Donald Martin, and Edithe Swensen bring 'Brazen' to the big screen. Adapting from Nora Roberts book 'Brazen Virtue'. Prominent mystery writer and crime expert, Grace (Alyssa Milano), hurries back to Washington, D.C. because her estranged sister Kathleen (Emilie Ullerup) summons her. When her sister is killed and her double life as a webcam performer is revealed, Grace ignores the warnings of cool-headed detective Ed (Sam Page) and gets involved in the case.
'The Last Thing Mary Saw' is the new Shudder original written & directed by Edoardo Vitaletti, which is also his feature debut. Mary (Stefanie Scott), a young woman in a religiously repressive household who incurs her pious family’s wrath when she develops a romantic relationship with their maid, Eleanor (Isabelle Fuhrman). Mary’s family perceives their relationship as an abomination so Mary and Eleanor try to carry it on in secret but, well, it wouldn’t be a horror film if that worked out as planned.
'The Runner' is brought to life by Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller of Boy Harsher. It follows a strange woman (Kris Esfandiari) as she travels to a secluded, rural town where her violent compulsions are slowly revealed. The story intertwines with band Boy Harsher performing on a public access channel. Their music scores the strange woman's descent deeper into the unknown.
'Home' is the directorial debut from Franka Potente When a 40-year-old Marvin (Jake McLaughlin) returns home from prison, to take care of his mother, Bernadette (Kathy Bates) he must confront the demons of his past. Except help from those othering, like Jayden (Lil Rel Howery) & Father Browning (Stephen Root), and possibly making amends, with Delta (Aisling Franciosi).
